Strange behaviour with delete protection and deleting items

I have noticed that if you delete protect an item in item manager and then go to Portal and untick the delete protect and try to delete the item it will not delete. You have to go back to item manager and do the process from there

@Ryan Cooney?  Is this expected behaviour?

    This appears to working correctly for us.

     

    Is there an error presented or anything interesting in the browser's console or network log when the item fails to be deleted?
