Get Button status

I want to use the status of a button in a workflow (for example active identify or not active identify). This would be handy if I would like to query if a certain button is pressed or not from a workflow.

Right now I would like to use such a function in a workflow when the map event extentChanged is fired. If the button of interest is pressed something must happen and if the button is not pressed the workflow is stopped.
