How to change the default viewer launch URL, or remove extra viewer launch URLs – VertiGIS

This article will guide you on how to alter the launch URL or remove extra URLs, after you've installed the Viewer.

Sometimes after installing a Viewer, the default launch URL that is chosen by the post installer is not what you want to use, or there are multiple launch URLs presented from previous Viewer installations:

Note: Since Geocortex Essentials 4.3 it is possible to modify the viewer URLs from the Essentials Manager. See the Viewer URLs topic of the Geocortex Essentials documentation for more details.

To alter the launch URL or remove extra URLs you must alter a config file called RestManagerSettings.xml. In a default installation of Essentials this file will be located in the folder:

'C:\Program Files (x86)\Latitude Geographics\Geocortex Essentials\Default\Rest Elements\Manager\App_Data\'

Open the file in a text editor and you will see something like this:

If more than one launch link for the Viewer is showing up in Essentials REST Manager, then there will be multiple <ViewerFramework> lines. You may delete the duplicate ones which are unnecessary.

You may also alter the URL that the viewer is launched from, for example, to change 'http://{servername}/Viewer_1_X' to 'http://my.custom.url.com/Viewer_1_X'. This will then become the URL that is presented in REST Manager.

Note: Never use Word or similar software to edit configuration files as they will remove special characters which are necessary in these files. Always use a text editor such as Notepad.
